We all have our go-tos and favourite chains, but there are so many local spots that you might not know about. Even though we love the downtown core, there are a few other locations that have many one-of-a-kind restaurants.

The Lower Mission is full of unique restaurants and cafes you may not always stop at. So park your car and get to know the incredible restaurants along the way. Give your taste buds the dose of flavour they’ve been looking for and dive into some delicious food!

Hector’s Casa  

Serving authentic Mexican cuisine on Pandosy Street since 1999, the tradition of Hector’s Casa has been kept alive to serve Kelownians delicious, mouth-watering brunch, lunch and dinner. When you’re craving that incredible taste of Mexico, Hector’s is the place to go. From appies, soups, salads, tortillas, dessert and most definitely margaritas, it is the place to indulge in the taste of Mexico.

The Fixx Cafe

Lisa Cham, Owner and Executive Chef at The Fixx Cafe, brings the perfect date night location to the Lower Mission. Located on the corner of Pandosy and Lanfranco, the quaint location is intimate and cozy with its maximum 35 people capacity.

Using local ingredients and 70 percent local wines from B.C., The Fixx Cafe serves a varied menu from starters to sandwiches and pasta to entrees. The fresh ingredients will have you drooling over your plate with daily specials for lunch and dinner, fresh oceanwise fish from Codfathers and meat from a local butcher! Stop by for your next date night and make it one to remember– the Fixx Cafe is about as local as you can get!

Marmalade Cat Cafe

Known in the Lower Mission for its incredible breakfast, the locally owned Marmalade Cat Cafe is the quick stop you need to make in the mornings. Serving breakfast, lunch and baked goodies, all fresh in-house and from scratch, this is the food that tastes like mom’s cooking (maybe even better). Grab a tasty drink to go along with your breakfast or lunch, or stop by for live music on Fridays.

Famoso

New to the neighborhood, Famoso serves up authentic ingredients to create Neapolitan pizzas. Popular in Alberta, Famoso has recently made its way to Sopa Square in the Lower Mission and is the burst of flavour your mouth has been craving. Not only do they serve pizzas, but pasta and delicious bevvies are also great options on the menu. Famoso is perfect for a relaxed dinner out with friends or your significant other.  

Smack Dab

Dinner on the lake? Yes, please! Located at the Manteo Resort, Smack Dab is the spot for any time of the day with a daily buffet breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner and late-night snacks. Playing host to one of Kelowna’s largest lakeside patios, Smack Dab not only offers a wicked view, but also a full delicious menu. Watch the chefs prepare your favourite item or daydream next to the lake view. Taking their foods to the next level, you’ll want to try the popular green curry prawn pasta!

Zabb Thai Restaurant

Although their menu is small, Zabb Thai Restaurant has all of the variety that you need the next time you’re craving Thai food. Zabb, meaning ‘tasty’ or ‘delicious’ in Thai, stays true to its name by the meals they serve. Focusing on quality, but with a variety of options, Zabb can quench your cravings for all things Thai.
