Golf season is finally upon us, which means it’s time to dust off those irons and get out on the course! The Okanagan is chock-full of glorious golf courses, and with the gorgeous weather that the B.C. interior experiences, there is plenty of time to get out and try a few different courses.
PlayGolf Kelowna makes it easy to ‘play around’ at five different courses in Kelowna and West Kelowna, and you are bound to see some interesting golf characters and mentalities at each of those five courses.
The Sandman
No matter how hard he tries, this guy just cannot hit out of the sand. Lucky for anyone playing with ‘The Sandman’, while he may hold you up, your game will not be short on entertainment! Watching ‘The Sandman’ get frustrated is almost as fun as watching him come up with buckets of sand and no ball on every swing.
Chances are, you will see ‘The Sandman’ struggling to get out of one of the many bunkers at Kelowna Springs Golf Club. Give the guy a break, at least he’s trying!

The Rule Book Enforcer
We often forget when we’re playing the great game of golf that it is, in fact, a game. You may have run into ‘The Rule Book Enforcer’ out on the course, or you may even be ‘The Rule Book Enforcer’. It doesn’t matter if it’s a major tournament or simply a friendly match, ‘The Rule Book Enforcer’ makes sure that everyone abides by the PGA rules, and there will be no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

With all of those gorgeous trees at Shadow Ridge Golf Course, you’re bound to nudge the rules now and then to get a better shot. Just don’t let ‘The Rule Book Enforcer’ see you tapping your ball out from under those willows!
The Visualizer
We all know this guy. This golfer takes the time to envision his shot from ten different angles before finally taking a swing at – oh wait, no he’s just testing out a new angle.

Sure, it can be a bit annoying to wait for these golfers to set up what they believe will be the absolute best, most strategic shot possible, but give the guy a break! Anyone who wants to work on improving their game deserves the chance to decide what strategy is right for them.
You will most definitely see ‘The Visualizer’ at Shannon Lake Golf Club, contemplating his next best move on the fairway of hole 8.
The Colour Commentator
If we wanted a play by play, we’d just stay at home and watch TSN coverage! There is no doubt that you’ll run into a few golfers on the course that like to play the role of ‘The Colour Commentator’. These golfers love to analyze every shot that they take, as well as every shot that the group makes.
“Coming up on the fairway, Joe pulls out his seven iron and lines up his shot. We’re about 102 yards from the hole and there is a slight wind coming from the East.” Okay, you get the point.
Don’t be surprised if you end up paired up with ‘The Colour Commentator’ at Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club. These golfers clearly have plenty of experience and like a challenge, both in their game and in commentating on it.
The Socialite
The sole purpose of getting in a game of golf for ‘The Socialite’ is not to shoot under par, but to mingle and have a good time! Golf is just an added bonus.

‘The Socialite’ can be found chatting up the group behind you, spending far too much time at the beverage cart, and holding up your group because they are too busy gabbing about their plans next weekend.
When playing at Two Eagles Golf Course, you will likely run into one or two of ‘The Socialites’, who enjoy a good game of golf, but also want to engage in a deep conversation about that one time that they got a birdie on hole 11. Sure ya did pal!
These funny golfers are more are found playing around at the PlayGolf Kelowna courses all through the Okanagan golf season, and you should be too!
