Since Monday, volunteers have been replenishing the community's own Central Okanagan Food Bank with non-perishable items for the 7th annual B.C. Food Drive.
As of August 23, 2017 Mayor Colin Basran officially proclaimed that September 16th, 2017 will now be Thanksgiving Food Drive Day in support of the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

This week, volunteers delivered flyers, along with donation bags, to various residences in Kelowna and West Kelowna.
It's hoped that the bags have been filled generously with nonperishable goods and left on the doorstep to be collected on Saturday.
Donations that are most needed include, pasta, pasta sauce, canned fruit and vegetables, canned meats, stuffing mix, soup, cranberries, boost and baby basics.

“With the help of friends and neighbours in our community, we can stock the Food Bank shelves just in time for Thanksgiving,” said organizers.

Last year, the Thanksgiving Food Drive saw hundreds of volunteers collect over 42,000 pounds of food for our community.

If you weren’t given a donation bag don’t fret, you can still help!
Volunteers will happily take donations on Friday and Saturday at the Kelowna and West Kelowna Community Food Banks.
They'll also be on hand collecting donations from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Save on Foods, Orchard Plaza and Costco.
