  • Sunflower Festival returns in full bloom

Here’s your chance to walk in two acres of yellow sunflowers — perhaps the most summer-like experience to be had.

The Saanichton Sunflower Festival has announced August 14th as the tentative opening day for its beloved burst of yellow.

The window to see sunflowers in full bloom is short, so get a glimpse while you can. Oceanview Estates, who hosts the festival, anticipates only 10 days of full sunflower action.

This year, they are making the festival imaginative with an array of events. Not only can you walk among the flowers, but you can relax your mind and body in a sunflower yoga session or take painting lessons among the blooming beauties.

Also offered is a professional photography tour of the sunflowers with an in-house expert on select days.

Did you know there are many sunflower varieties? Betcha didn't. Some of them have fantastically flowery names like Ring of Fire, Velvet Queen, Red Sun, Autumn Beauty, Mardi Gras, Teddy Bear and Lemon Queen.

Bookings are limited, so act fast! More information can be found here.
