I am a food and exercise loving Registered Dietitian based in Prince George, BC.
Why do you use Instagram?
I use Instagram as a creative outlet to share my passion for food, cooking and physical activity.
What will people see on your feed?
My feed is an authentic representation of how I live my life. It’s a blend of food and cooking inspiration, evidence-based sports nutrition tips mixed with scenes where I’m active outside.
Does your page have a specific style?
My feed is an eclectic grid of colourful photographs of food and the outdoors.
Favorite Instagram accounts to follow?
@ritualcoffeebar – I love their coffee photography
@coljuicery – they do a great job showcasing their product creatively
@fraichenutrition – Tori is a fellow RD and food blogger who creates amazing recipes
@whitewatercooks – one of my favourite cookbook series
@josscanshoot – my sister, who has taught me everything I know about iPhonography
How do you decide on your location for shoots?
Most of my shoots are spontaneous. I take my iPhone with me when I head out for a run or ride, and I often have it nearby when I’m cooking.
Biggest Instagram moment?
Being new to Instagram, I’m surprised at how effective it can be for personal/professional branding and I’ve had a few successes over the past few months.
I’ve been contacted about being a brand ambassador for nutrition/lifestyle products, and to provide a product review of an upstart whole foods protein bar. I’ve also been in PrinceGeorgeNow’s In Focus feature and now in the Sunday Social (thanks PrinceGeorgeNow!). To me this is feedback that I’m building some momentum.
Favorite hashtags?
#runpg – @pg_roadrunners very own hashtag for using on local runs
#travelnorthernbc – great scenery of our amazing corner of the world
#dietitiansofinstagram – so I can connect with some of my fellow Registered Dietitians
