My name is Colton Barker. I just turned 20 earlier this month. I'm a paid, on-call firefighter in Scotch Creek but live in Kamloops. I'm going into either career firefighting or fire and explosives investigator. I grew up in different places such as Salmon Arm, Williams Lake, Phoenix, and Scotch Creek.
Why do you use Instagram?
I use Instagram because it's a great way to present my work on a global scale by using hashtags. Social media is a powerful thing.
What will people see on your feed?
People will see a mix between natural pictures taken of different areas around Kamloops and Canada and even the world eventually. They will also see photoshoots involving some of my friends that are my models. These shoots would be taken mostly in Kamloops but can appear elsewhere.
Does your page have a specific style?
My pages favorite style to use is natural pictures of what I see when inspiration hits.
Favorite Instagram accounts to follow?
Argenel, thecampfirelab, chras_linhares are some of my favorite accounts to follow.
How do you decide on your location for shoots?
I usually don't decide on a set spot for a shoot. If I have a model, what I do is we just take a day and hangout and along the way I'll take pictures as inspiration hits. Same with the natural pictures, I'll just be doing whatever and then all of a sudden, boom, there's a picture that would look amazing!
Biggest Instagram moment?
So far my best Instagram moment with this account is right now when you asked me to join social Sundays! It's a huge step in the right direction for where I want to take my account!
Favorite hashtags?
My favorite hashtags are #explorebc #explorecanada #explore and #photography.
Why do you follow KamloopsBCNow?
I follow Kamloops Now because the pictures chosen to be on the account are amazing. They really show the natural talent of the photographers and the landscape of the Kamloops area.
