Breaking News:

This is some breaking news!

  • Sunday Social Connection: @gingermeetsglobe

KamloopsBCNow is excited to feature some of our favourite Instagram profiles from the area. These profiles are chosen based on their content, style and interaction with the community.

My name is Veronica Kos and I am completing my final year at TRU for a bachelor's degree in journalism. I’m originally from Calgary and moved to B.C. for school, but also because I’m in love with this beautiful province. I’ve always been passionate about travel since I spent my childhood travelling every year to Europe to visit family. I was gifted a camera when I graduated high school and have been passionate about photography ever since.

    Why do you use Instagram?

Instagram is a great medium to share your photos with a huge audience while also discovering new places in Canada other photographers have captured. Ever since I downloaded the app I’ve found so many more places to explore here in BC or back home in Alberta.

What will people see on your feed?

Outdoor shots, lots of colours, and places around the world. I was lucky enough to travel across Europe last summer and photographed practically everything I saw.

Do you have a specific style?

I would say I have a very colourful theme with bright warm tones. I used to try harder in making my photos all look perfect with each other but I found the more you just post what you love it will all naturally come together as one coherent theme.

    Favourite Instagram accounts to follow?

Some of my absolute favourite accounts to follow are other female travel photographers. The account that inspired me to start my own page, and from which I’ve even mirrored my Instagram name is @girlvsglobe. I’ve been reading her blog for a few years and always loved her colourful Instagram photos. I also adore @reneeroaming. She has a truly breathtaking landscape and nature photography page. Also, @ourfriendmilo is just adorable.

    Why do you follow KamloopsBCNow?

Because they feature talented local photographers I may have never discovered on my own!

How do you decide on the locations for your shoots?

Trial and error. I like to explore different places with the mindset of how it would make a good photo and then see if it works out. It’s often as simple as driving around keeping an eye out for something interesting, or looking online for potential new spots.

    Biggest Instagram moment?

My biggest instagram moment would have to be when @inside_vancouver shared one of my posts. It was the first time a photo of mine was featured on a page. On their account it’s sitting at just under 5,000 likes. It's amazing to me that 5,000 people would enjoy a photo I took.

    Favourite Hashtags?

#sheisnotlost #shetravels and #gltlove are three I really like because they are great to connect and find other awesome female travel Instagrammers.
