KelownaNow is excited to feature some of our favorite Instagram profiles from the area!
My name is Brittany and I'm a 23 year old photographer from Lake Country. I'm currently in the process of opening up a cafe (The Salty Caramel Kitchen) in Okanagan Centre, but in the meantime have been pursuing my passion for photography on the side. I also enjoy cooking, camping, hanging with my cat and wearing every piece of clothing in my closet before doing laundry.
Why do you use Instagram?
Instagram is the best platform for me to share my work and gain potential clients. I have also made some super genuine connections with people I never would have come across otherwise. It has even resulted in a ton of collaborations between me and other creatives.
What will people see on your feed?
Currently, fashion. I love a styled shoot where I have control over the hair, makeup, outfit and location. I do go through phases though. If my boyfriend and I are in adventure mode, then you'll be sure to see some mountain top views or sunsets over the ocean. I've also been known to post a selfie every now and again.
Does your page have a specific style?
My style is forever evolving. I'm really into the warm vintage look right now but that could change a month from now. It's fun to scroll back into my feed and see how much I've grown. I think it's good to keep some level of consistency to have your work be recognizable as your own, but just enough so that you are still keeping your followers interested.

Why do you follow KelownaNow?
It's a great way to find out about events going on in the community. It also gives me inspiration for new hiking spots to check out when you repost others peoples photos.
How do you decide on your location for shoots?
I'm constantly location scouting whether I'm aware of it or not. I'm always drawn to rundown shops, old cars, creepy buildings and colourful walls. I'm always thinking "I should shoot there". Now all I need is a model to travel around with me at all times.
Biggest Instagram moment?
When I reached 1000 followers. I know you shouldn't play the numbers game and that follower count shouldn't matter but after hosting a giveaway on my page I gained a bunch of followers. I thought a majority would leave when they found out they didn't win. The came for the giveaway but stayed because they liked my work. It's always nice when you start receiving genuine feedback.
Favourite hashtags?
Depends on the photo but I always tag #kelownaphotographer #kelownanow and #kelownablogger in hopes of connecting with other locals #lookslikefilm is another great one that fits my style.
