Look like the heat and the smoke will be sticking around for a while longer in Kelowna.

Daytime highs will continue to be in the 30s through at least the first half of the work week.

“This stretch of hot, sunny, and partly hazy weather will last several more days as the blocking pattern persists over B.C., preventing any significant weather from moving into our region,” says Wesla English, NowMedia meteorologist.

There is a heat warning out right now for Kelowna, and officials are urging people to take precautions to protect themselves from the heat, such as staying hydrated, spending time in an airconditioned facility for at least several hours, staying in the shade and using sunscreen.

Also, a reminder to never leave people or pets in a parked car.

Daily high temperatures will reach the mid to upper 30s for most sectors and up to 40 C in the Fraser Canyon, according to Environment Canada.

We also have an air quality statement still in effect due to wildfire smoke in the region. People with pre-existing health conditions, the elderly, infants, children and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health effects and should take the proper precautions.
