  • Spot fire spawns near Shuswap Lake

A small spot fire has sparked near Shuswap Lake Monday afternoon, eliciting a response from BC Wildfire Service.

Three personnel, an industry crew, one helicopter and heavy equipment were enlisted to engage the 0.2-hectare fire referred to as the Antsey FSR fire, located to the east of Shuswap Lake and the Antsey Arm.

Despite the fire being considered out of control "they've made considerable progress knocking it back," said Brenna Ward, Fire Information Officer with the Kamloops Fire Centre.

The fire is suspected to be human-caused but Fire Origin and Cause and Compliance and Enforcement have been deployed to investigate what ignited the fire.
