Travellers looking to head to the Coast this weekend should be aware of a special weather statement in place for the interior highways. 

According to Environment Canada, flurries are expected over high elevation highway routes of the southern interior tonight. A vigorous cold front will cross BC tonight, hitting the region with rain this evening, followed by quickly dropping snow levels. As this happens, the rain will change to flurries in higher elevations. 

The Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt can expect to see five to 10 centimetres of snow. The Okanagan Connector should also see two to five centimetres at the Pennask Summit, the Allison Pass, and from the Paulson Summit to the Kootenay Pass. 

Strong, gusty winds could also occur on Hwy 3 and Hwy 5 with the suddenly changing weather.
