It looks like the region's snow may stick around to help celebrate New Year's this weekend. 

Snow fell around the Okanagan on Tuesday night, which along with the freezing temperatures, is helping residents enjoy a classic Canadian holiday season.

The Okanagan's weather forecast is calling for light snow in the region for the rest up the week leading up to New Year's Day.

The Interior's highways have been dealing with extreme weather conditions over the holidays with multiple closures on both the Connector and Coquihalla.

Up to 5 cm of snow is expected to fall on the mountain passes throughout the day on Wednesday and drivers should be prepared for compact snow on the roads.
