UPDATE: Dec. 31, 3:40 pm) – A snowfall warning issued on Monday has ended for the South Thompson. 

The Shuswap and North Thompson weren't so lucky as a winter storm will continue to give snow to those areas. 

According to Environment Canada, approximately 10 centimetres of snow has already fallen in the three regions. 

"Over Shuswap, snow mixed with rain is expected to taper off later this evening with further amounts of 5 cm expected. The snow over North Thompson will taper off overnight with another 10 to 15 cm expected."

Residents travelling should use caution as heavy snow can cause visibility issues. Poor weather conditions may cause transportation delays. 

(UPDATE: 12:30 pm) – The snowfall warning issued for the North Thompson this morning has now been extended to the South Thompson. 

Residents can expect long periods of snowfall, which could see 20 to 30 centimetres drop into the region.

According to Environment Canada, a long period of snowfall is expected to hit the North Thompson. The area could see anywhere from 20 to 30 centimetres of snow. 

A storm is set to track across BC tonight and Tuesday, bringing heavy snow into the southern interior. Snow will begin later today and intensify during the night. Residents should expect the flurries to taper off into rain on Tuesday evening. 

"We expect a total of 20 to 30 cm of snow between this evening and Tuesday evening across the Central Okanagan, North Okanagan, Shuswap and North Thompson regions," wrote Environment Canada. "Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow."
