Avalanche control will take place from West Boundary of Glacier National Park to East Boundary of Glacier National Park. The work will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and motorists can expect up to two hour delays as a result.

A travel advisory was put into place by DriveBC along the same stretch of highway on Thursday as mild temperatures and a mix of snow and rain had crews worried about the potential for an avalanche. A moderate amount of precipitation is expected to fall along the highway between Sicamous and the Alberta border.

If you are planning on travelling along the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Hope, you can expect to run into black ice, compact snow, and slushy conditions in both directions. Motorists can also expect to run into pooling water along Highway 5 as well, according to DriveBC. Heavy fog is blanketing the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna, especially at the Pennask Summit. Compact snow and slushy sections are being reported along Highway 5 from Merritt to Kamloops.
