  • SilverStar shuts down in response to coronavirus pandemic

SilverStar Mountain Resort has shut down in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

It will be closed from today (March 15) until March 22.

“We will continue to monitor the dynamic COVID-19 situation and reassess our approach for the rest of the season during this timeframe,” the ski resort explained in a statement.

It added: “The suspension includes all lift operations, food and beverage, tube town, brewers pond, nordic operations and retail and rental services. Our lodging and property management facilities will remain open to service guests we have on site or those with existing reservations, but we will not be taking new reservations for the remainder of March, 2020.”

The resort explained that the decision was made in an effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus currently wreaking havoc across the world.

It said its customer services team will be in touch with guests to modify or cancel reservations.

Fellow Okanagan ski resort Big White, meanwhile, said it is planning on remaining open until the end of the season.
