Manulife customers will be able to meet their medical marijuana needs at Shoppers Drug Mart beginning this fall.
Specially trained Shopper Drug Mart pharmacists will advise patients on strains and consumption that “best suits their needs and that is covered under their Manulife Benefits plan,” according to a press release.
The announcement comes after Shoppers Drug Mart entered into supply agreements late last year with several Canadian licensed producers, including Aurora, Tilray, and Aphria.
“Shoppers Drug Mart’s trusted healthcare professionals can provide patients with greater attention and support to navigate the complexities of medical cannabis therapies,” said Mark Rolnick, Vice President, Employer Health Solutions, Shoppers Drug Mart. “We are excited about this new partnership and its ability to help Manulife customers live their lives well.”
Manulife customers will receive ongoing case management from Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacists after receiving their medical marijuana, which will include support “through education, regular check-ins, counselling, and phone and email.”
According to companies, more information will be made available when the program goes live this fall.
