The skies became moody on Wednesday and it looks like that’ll continue into Thursday.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a number of regions across B.C.’s southern Interior, including the Okanagan Valley.

“Brighter and drier conditions to start this morning but showers and thundershowers remain in the forecast this afternoon,” says Wesla English, NowMedia meteorologist. “

"The unsettled conditions stay in the forecast through Friday when an upper low develops over Southern BC. Expect daytime highs in the mid to upper 20s.”

Environment Canada warns of periods of heavy rainfall due to the slow motion of the storms, as well as strong wind gusts like we saw on Wednesday.

And, of course, if there is lightning, put your safety first.

“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year,” says Envrionment Canada. “Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”

Despite the potential of stormy weather, sunscreen isn’t a terrible option today as the UV index is expected to rise to 8, which is very high.

The pollen index is moderate and hopefully allergy season is starting to come to an end as we get into the summer months.
