Seven new online webcams are now live as the province continues to expand its highway camera system.

The new cameras have been launched near the Haig Scale on Highway 7, about two kilometres west of Hope.

"Highway cameras are an important transportation technology that we use to provide travellers with timely information on current road and weather conditions," Transportation Minister Todd Stone said. "We encourage drivers to check DriveBC before heading out in order to check on conditions, to avoid delays, and to arrive safely at their destinations."

This new webcam provides real-time monitoring of Highway 7, showing camera views in both east and west directions. The webcam can be viewed under the Lower Mainland tab at http://drivebc.ca/#webcams.

There are now more than 550 highway webcam images available through DriveBC and the province’s ‘know before you go’ program. The cameras are meant to help motorists plan according to traffic congestion, weather conditions, and other events or advisories.
