(UPDATE: 2 pm) – RCMP have confirmed the collision along Highway 97 south of Prince George resulted in a fatality.
Investigators determined that a logging truck and two other vehicles, one SUV and a pickup truck, collided causing the logging truck to spill its load on the highway.
However, the actual cause of the collision has yet to be determined.
The highway remains closed and it is not known when it will re-open due to the logs and vehicles on the highway.
Motorists are asked to monitor DriveBC for updates on the road closure and to obey the direction of traffic control personnel at the scene.
(Original Story: 10 am) – There has been a serious collision on Hwy 97 near Prince George.
Police said the road is closed in both directions.
Officers are on the scene.
It is expected the road will remain closed “for a number of hours,” according to Mounties.
Drive BC said there are no detours available.
