Our Saturday Spotlight series that will feature a new, local act every other weekend, to better strengthen our scene and get to know the people behind the music.

    Get to Know: Psycherelics

While their vintage sound may flood you with nostalgia from the ‘70s, this band has only been jamming together for just over two years.

Old souls, the Psycherelics joined forces out of a shared love for the warm and comforting sounds of the golden era of rock and we can thank the music of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath for bringing them together.

Tell us about the inception of the Psycherelics?

We love psychedelics, retro things and have all had a love for older rock and blues from a very young age. It also helped that we have some musical people in our family, so the seed of our band was planted many years ago.

How would you describe your music?

A lot of people call us ‘stoner/blues rock,' we definitely have a vintage type of sound. You can expect to hear some heavy riffs combined with psychedelic blues soloing, and solid grooves that will get you moving.

Our singer and guitarist, Talon Wade, really channels Jimi Hendrix with his old American Stratocaster. Jordan Pearce on the drums is heavily influenced by John Bonham and Fraser Burke came later to the band and has been an excellent fit, focusing on a Geezer Butler style of bass playing.

How do you feel about our local music scene?

It really feels like we're a part of something special here. There are so many talented people involved in the scene, and they all support each other. There's always a good show somewhere that is full of friendly and familiar faces.

We have some really talented hard-working people in the music industry here and whenever you get a chance to be part of something big like that, it's a treat.

Having been hard at work in the studio for the last several months, the band is set to release their newest creation on Friday, Dec. 6!

Chrome Train is a six-song EP that will take listeners on a rockin’ psychedelic ride through the cosmos.

According to the band, this will be one of their most honest and transparent releases to date as it focuses heavily on the organic energy that is mustered through their collaboration and connection during live performances.

What can you tell us about Chrome Train?

I really feel like we are a band of brothers with old souls. We have always been about the rock and roll, when we are on stage,  behind our instruments it's like our souls just clash together and we go on a rock and roll ride through space!

We really wanted to bring that sound and feel to the album.  It's as transparent as it gets. Rock and blues and a whole lot of fun rolled into one because our fans have always appreciated the fact that we are true to ourselves and our sound.

You will have an opportunity to get in on the evident magic that is present during one of the band’s performances in just two short weeks, as Fernando’s Pub will host their EP release show on Friday, Dec. 13.

However, you can dive into Chrome Train prior to that when it becomes available on all streaming platforms next week. You can follow along with Psycherelics on Facebook to stay up to date.
