  • UPDATE: Hwy 1 reopens north of China Bar Tunnel after earlier rockslide

    (UPDATE: 11 am) – Hwy 1 has officially reopened north of the China Bar Tunnel after an earlier rockslide. 

    Travellers can expect some delays in the area due to congestion. 

    (Original Story: 9:25 am) – Kamloops residents looking to avoid the rush of the Coquihalla won't be able to use Hwy 1 for some time… 

    According to Drive BC, a rockslide has closed the highway between the Anderson River Mainline and Cottonwood Road. The incident occurred 25 to 32 kiolmetres west of the Jackass Mountain Summit.

    Crews are en route and an assessment is currently in progress. Travellers are urged to avoid the area south of Boston Bar. 

    At this point, there is no estimated time of reopening. NowMedia will update the story when more information is available.
