Two areas of town will see road construction get underway next week. One will include safety improvements at Eighth Street and Fortune Drive and the other includes updates to River Road.
In Valleyview, reconstruction will begin on River Road between Valleyiew Drive and the highway and continue until August. During construction, River Road will be open to local traffic only so motorists are asked to use alternative routes.

KLL Construction has been contracted by the city to complete a number of upgrades, including storm drainage improvements, water service replacement, putting in concrete curbs and gutters and a sidewalk, full road reconstruction, improved street lighting and retired driveways and boulevards.
On the North Shore, the city has contracted Eagle Rock Construction to install a smart right-turn channel at the intersection of Fortune Drive and Eighth Street to improve visibility.
That project also includes replacing concrete on the curb, gutters and sidewalks, installing stamped concrete infill and regular concrete infill, upgrading traffic lights, marking pavement and installing signage.
Traffic delays should be expected along the construction route until the project is completed by the end of June. A detour route via Seventh Street is recommended.
