  • Cat rescued in Kamloops found with 3 pellets lodged under skin

Three pellets have been discovered lodged under a cat’s skin in Kamloops.

Sammy’s Forgotten Felines Rescue Society recently took in Deelia, along with her four kittens.

“After a couple of days of assessment, Deelia didn't look awesome,” the rescue society said in a social media post. “Her breathing was rapid and her third eye lids were showing.”

    “This indicates something is wrong.”

Sammy’s Forgotten Felines took Deelia to the emergency vet, where they discovered she had a fever and treated her with antibiotics and some antiinflammatories with subcutaneous fluids.

“We took some x-rays, and low and behold, some of her story became clear,” the rescue society added.

“Someone has used her for target practice with a pellet gun.”

The three pellets found under Deelia’s skin are no longer causing pain or endangering her vital organs.

“This is an all too common reality for feral cats," Sammy’s Forgotten Felines explained.

“There is no excuse for this behaviour from humans.”
