Families are celebrating and showing their gratitude to our local RCMP today as part of the third annual RCMP Appreciation event.

The event is brought forward by Third Space Life Charity and their annual initiative The Gratitude Project, which takes place throughout the month of October via various community-oriented events.
“It is important for us to make sure our community is supported, and if we didn't have the RCMP we wouldn't have the community we do,” said Allie Grey, Executive Director for Third Space Life Charity.

A free, family-friendly event, RCMP Appreciation Day boasts a wide variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy. From face-painting and treats to having the opportunity to explore RCMP vehicles and equipment, the event not only offers something for everyone.

“I think it is awesome, it is great to see the community support and the people that are coming out, I think it is certainly appreciated by all our RCMP members and staff,” said Brent Mundle, Superintendent for Kelowna RCMP.

According to organizer Dena Barbash, the event takes a year to come together but is well worth it to see the impact it has on attendees and RCMP.
“They are thrilled, they love it. It is nice to see families coming through a space where they can find free fun things to do and having a good time,” said Barbash.

Not only does the event offers an opportunity to see our local officers, but to learn more about their work and thank them for keeping our community safe.
“We are breaking down the barriers between them and us, and having a good time together, making sure that we are highlighting the great work they are doing,” added Grey.
