A Kelowna native has taken over the role of winemaker at Quails’ Gate.

Ross Baker has been promoted to the position after fives years as “an integral part” of the Quails’ Gate winemaking team.

Baker has a Bachelor of Science in Wine from the University of British Columbia Okanagan and has previously worked at Villa Maria Estates in New Zealand.

He also worked locally at Red Rooster Winery and Kettle Valley Winery before joining Quails’ Gate in 2013.

“We are very excited for Ross to assume the role of Winemaker,” said Tony Stewart, CEO of Quails’ Gate.

“Ross has been part of the Quails’ Gate family for many years, and with his intimate knowledge of our vineyards and wine styles, is the perfect candidate to maintain the consistency and quality of our wines.”

Also changing roles at the winery is Kailee Frasch, who has assumed the role of Oenologist.

Frasch, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from UBCO and a Certificate in Grape and Wine Technology from Brock University, has been with the winery since 2016.

In the coming weeks, the Stewart family will announce its selection for the Director of Winemaking position.

This new role will oversee winery operations at Quails’ Gate as well as the family’s Sonoma operations for Lake Sonoma Winery and Valley of the Moon.
