The Premier League in England has been suspended as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

All games in the top-flight of English soccer – the most-watched sports league in the world – will be postponed until at least April 4, officials said. 

The English Football League, which includes teams in the second, third and fourth tier of soccer in the country, has also suspended its fixtures, until at least April 3.

The decision was made after the manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, tested positive for the new coronavirus.  

Players from various teams were also revealed to have the virus. 

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said: "In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, government, the FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority."
