On March 16, we wrote a story on Lime e-scooters and e-bikes arriving back on the roads this spring.
From KGH injury reports to parking complaints, e-scooters have been a hot topic since their arrival in Kelowna in 2021, and now we’ve reached the final year of a three-year pilot project in Kelowna.
The pilot program technically runs until April 2024, but whether Kelowna residents will see these shared rental e-scooters and e-bikes beyond 2023 is still up in the air.
“Last year we had about a quarter of a million trips and complaints from residents about improper parking and improper riding are down 90%,” City of Kelowna transportation planner Cameron Noonan told KelownaNow.
After a three-month winter hiatus, Lime e-scooters and e-bikes are back on the roads. This year’s fleet of 1,000 Lime vehicles will include 700 e-scooters and 300 e-bikes.
