Pink Shirt Day took place across the country yesterday, and whether it was with family, a workplace or a school event— Victorians were heavily involved in spreading awareness to end bullying.

The movement began in 2007, after two high school boys from Nova Scotia stood in protest while wearing pink shirts, defending a younger boy who was previously bullied for wearing a pink shirt.

Since 2007, B.C. has raised over $2.1 million for anti-bullying initiatives, and just yesterday, on the steps of the B.C. legislature, Premiere Horgan, surrounded by anti-bullying supporters, announced that the Ministry of Education is donating $160,000 throughout schools in the province to provide online safety sessions.
