This is some breaking news!

  • PHOTOS: The McDougall Creek wildfire

According to the latest data from the BC Wildfire Service, the McDougall Creek wildfire is now estimated at 1,100 hectares in size, up from 300 hectares this morning.

Several hundred properties are now under an evacuation order, including some in Rose Valley, north of Shannon Lake and on the east flank of the fire above Westside Road.

As lingering smoke cleared from the valley throughout the day, the large plume of smoke from the aggressively expanding fire north of West Kelowna became apparent.

Photos of the plume have been taken by thousands of residents and visitors from all different angles and we’ve compiled a few to share.
