The Rifflandia music festival took place in downtown Victoria this past weekend, giving attendees a memorable experience.

The festival was extremely well-attended this year, with thousands of fans gathering to see the amazing line-up organizers had in store.

Unfortunately, this year’s festival saw two acts drop out, including Pussy Riot and Black Pumas. In place of their presence, Pussy Riot recorded a video message to fans about the state of the world that was played on a screen at the festival, calling for an “end to right-wing hate” and corrupt governments.

Despite the cancellations, a spectacular show went on with highlights including the highly-anticipated headliners, Lorde and Charlie XCX.

The band Bikini Kill, an American feminist punk band, also had their debut show in Canada.

Break-out artist Jessia, who hails from Vancouver Island, was also in the line-up. Her release “I’m Not Pretty” on TikTok last year went viral, and she was signed not long after.

Other than music, attendees could also make plans to tie the knot. A pop-up wedding venue with an ordained minister was available on Sunday, adding something a little different to this year’s festival.

All-in-all, the family-friendly and party-friendly event resulted in a momentous weekend for Victorians.
