A Kelowna resident had an interesting nightly encounter while checking her garden last night. 

When Erika Lachance went to look at her blueberries, she found a small visitor.

A praying mantis was looking for a midnight snack and was caught in the act. Rather than the traditional green, this insect was a faded brown.

"I know Praying Mantis's are pretty rare in Kelowna and I was extremely happy to find one in our blueberry bush yesterday night," said Lachance.

It mostly stayed focused on the berries, though it turned to pose for the camera a pair of times.
