  • PHOTOS: Michigan welcomes new ‘pawfficer’

The Troy Police Department in Michigan has just sworn in the most purr-fect new officer.

    Pawfficer to be exact.

The department has partnered with the Michigan Humane Society to bring a cat onto the force.

“It is a lighthearted, yet powerful reminder of how important the animals we share our lives with are to us,” writes the Humane Society.

This is not the first time a feline member has been sworn in.

Badges was the previous pawfficer, but due to a diagnosis of feline leukemia the kitten was no longer able to perform her duties.

Through an extensive interviewing process, the department was able to find the most impawssibly adorable candidate.

On May 11, Donut was sworn in by two judges as the new pawfficer.

Donut's will have the important job of providing therapeutic relief to the officers while simultaneously acting as the spokesperson for adoption.

She will also be making many public appearances, and according to her already famous internet following, she will be in high demand.

Pawfficer merchandise is currently for sale with all proceeds going to benefit the Michigan Humane Society.

Congratulations on your role, Donut. The city will remain safe in your capable paws.
