  • UPDATE: Osoyoos was the hottest place in Canada on Tuesday

A previous version of this story stated that Penticton Canada's hotspot, when it was in fact Osoyoos with the country's hottest temperature.

While it's no surprise that the Okanagan is enjoying spring weather before the majority of Canada, few would have guessed the region to be the hottest spot in the country.

According to Environment Canada, Osoyoos was home to the warmest temperatures from coast to coast on Tuesday.

The mercury hit 16.7°C in the south Okanagan border town, breaking the town's old temperature record for March 3 of 16.1°C set back in 2005.

Penticton also set a new record high for March 3 at a temperature of 16.1°C smashing the old record of 15.2°C set in 2005.

While Wednesday's forecast calls for another beautiful sunny day, it doesn't appear temperatures will surpass Tuesday's new record.

Regardless, spring is knocking on the door!
