  • Out and About with KelownaNow on a sunny Summer Sunday

Blue skies, warm weather, and a perfectly chilled lake made for the ideal summer day in Kelowna. KelownaNow's Savannah Bagshaw was out and about taking photos of local activities that made for a great way to spend a Sunday.

I started my day in beautiful Peachland for the weekly Farmers and Crafters market on Beach Avenue. The market was already buzzing by 10 a.m., with many people exploring the numerous vendors tents that had everything from fruit to handmade trinkets.

After touring the market I took the time to admire the landscape. Giving me the opportunity to snap these shots of the lake.

On my way to leave, I ran into these two adorable pups keeping cool under the trees while patiently waiting for their owners to return. (Hopefully, with treats)

I headed to where the action was at City Park. As soon as I arrived, I ran into a peculiar situation. Sunbathing ferrets on the beach. One local man brought his three fluffy and friendly ferrets to the beach so they could cool down in the water, play in the sand, and soak up the sun.

These little sweethearts drew quite the crowd while they were enjoying their outing, and some lucky bystanders even got to cuddle up with one.

Today seemed to be "Bring your pet to the beach day" as not long after my encounter with the ferrets I saw a dog enjoying a leisurely paddle board on the lake.

A unique event that went on in downtown Kelowna was a customer appreciation event put on by local designer Genessa Jackson, owner of Le Reve boutique. Dozens of women paraded downtown in Jackson's designs to show off their uniqueness. Check out KelownaNow's coverage of the event to learn more.

After finishing up at City Park Beach, I ran into a group of talented Blues musicians who were utilizing one of the many colourful pianos distributed throughout downtown as part of the Pianos in the Park program. They played soulful music that had people of all ages stopping to enjoy.
