  • Okanagan Charity Classic raises funds for youth yet again

The Okanagan Charity Classic returned for its third year, returning to yet again lend a hand to youth who hope to get involved in recreational sports.

It was a day filled with sunshine, beautiful scenery and of course, a much-needed round of golf. The Okanagan Charity Classic provided attendees with an opportunity to bask in the Okanagan scenery while supporting a worthy cause.

Since this is an event that aims to provide young athletes with opportunities, it’s only fitting that the organizers enlisted some help from those who were once young dreamers as well.

Former Buffalo Sabres player Cody Franson and hometown hero Josh Gorges were just two of the hockey pros who attended the tournament.

Teams consisted of six individuals, four of which were local professionals while one spot was filled by a local golf pro and the last, by a professional hockey player.

This was not your typical 18-hole round of golf. Throughout the course, attendees could enjoy fun mini games, hole-in-one challenges and prizes, keeping the day exciting.

Following a day in the sunshine, participants were treated to a dinner and silent auction where they could bid on some incredible prizes which helped bump up the fundraising total.

With $15,000 raised thus far, the event not only gave those who attended a day to remember, helped create some incredible opportunities for future athletes.
