Liquidity Wines has a new silver medal thanks to their estate-grown 2013 Chardonnay.
The batch was awarded second place at the prestigious Chardonnay du Monde international competition in France.
The annual competition is now in its 23rd year. This time around, there were over 780 submissions from almost 40 countries, all judged by 300 international experts on a tasting panel.
The competition, which ranks the world's best chardonnays, awarded a total of 259 medals, 132 to French chardonnays and only 14 for Canadian wines.
Liquidity Wines is located at Okanagan Falls, overlooking Vaseux and Skaha lakes in the Okanagan Valley.
The Winery boasts a unique tasting room, eclectic art, and a unique bistro.
Winemaker Alison Moyes and the Liquidity team said they are proud of their handcrafted wines.
"We're thrilled to be recognized as a world-class producer of chardonnays," said Moyes, in a statement.
Moyes explained that their chardonnay is 100 per cent barrel fermented along with regular bâtonnage (stirring) which brings out a rich and creamy texture.
“Tropical aromas of mango and pineapple are underscored by notes of vanilla, toast and almond,” continued Moyes. “The palate has a beautiful complexity and acid balance. Layered flavours of passion fruit, kaffir lime, caramel, vanilla and light smoke carry through to a lingering finish.”
The Liquidity 2013 chardonnay is available in Liquidity's tasting room and online for $26, and can also be found at various private liquor stores in the area.
