BC Conservation Officer Service is once again reminding people to stay out of provincial parks and recreation sites. 

According to Sergeant Jeff Hanratty, BC CO Service put three officers in the field over the long weekend at the request of BC Recreation Sites and Trails service. 

Those officers visited 11 forest recreation sites between the Coquihalla Connector and Shuswap Lake where they dealt with 70 violations over the span of three days. 

"We issued three orders to vacate for unlawful camping after people set up at recreation sites," explained Hanratty.

"Officers also issued 11 written warning tickets that don't have a fine and gave 30 other verbal warnings for campers to leave the sites."

However, despite the violations, Hanratty maintained that overall the compliance level was good. 

BC CO Service is asking the public to report any issues with noncompliance at recreation sites to the 24-hour hotline 1-877-952-7277.
