  • Now You KNow! – All about the 64th annual Blossom Time Fair

On Friday afternoon, the four KGH auxiliaries (Kelowna, Peachland, Winfield, and Rutland) hosted the 64th annual Blossom Time Fair at the Cottonwoods Care Centre and there was something there for everyone.

The event is put on in order to raise funds for supplies and programs for the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, as well as residential care facilities. The volunteers spent the year leading up to the event baking pies, making ice cream and creating crafts to be sold. Community members also donated items such as books, antiques, and even plants to the event as a way to help out. One citizen, Mrs. Franks, who recently turned 100, still donates her plants to the event.

Residents from surrounding care facilities came to join in the festivities as well as many families with small children. Aside from all of the great items being sold, there was also 50/50 and raffle tickets, a barbeque as well as entertainment from acts like the Old Time Fiddlers, clowns from the Caring Clowns organization and even face painting.

The Volunteers put in long hours to make this event what it was, some even staying up until four in the morning. It was all worth it as the Blossom Time Fair was so wonderful in many aspects, even the weather was great adding more smiles to the faces of all in attendance.
