North Okanagan RCMP respond to weapons incident at local motel

North Okanagan RCMP officers had to deal with what could have been a stressful situation this Friday.

According to police, in the later afternoon, officers descended on a motel in the 3200 block of 25th Avenue in Vernon for an alleged weapons complaint.

At approximately 3:30 pm, officers were advised that an individual at the motel was causing a disturbance and in possession of an alleged firearm.

Officers were able to arrest the suspect without incident. A later search of the room yielded no firearms.

The individual has since been released without charges. Anyone with information on firearm incidents is asked to contact North Okanagan RCMP at (250)545-7171.
