  • New wine and food event will have you indulging in all things local

A new wine and food event that features all local product is coming to Kelowna.

The Ultimate Outdoor Fete is a new up and coming event that pairs spectacular Okanagan wines with fresh and local food.

On July 31, event attendees can expect to indulge in a one-of-kind experience that will include a four-course meal.

Each entree will be paired with a local wine handpicked by winemakers from Naramata.

Local blogger, consultant and founder of The Ultimate Outdoor Fete, Laura Milnes, has a passion for all things food and wine.

Being a self-starter, Milnes understands how important it is to support the local businesses who are trying to get their foot in the door.

“I want to focus on supporting the underdogs. That struggle and that hustle is there,” said Milnes.

“Having each other’s backs and collaborating is huge because then we all succeed.”

Milnes also understands how important it is to give back to the community any way you can.

That is why some of the funds raised will go to support Les Dames d'Escoffier, BC Chapter scholarship fund for women in the service industry.

“I’m passionate about women’s rights. It’s an effort that is close to my heart. It made sense to make this a charity of choice,” said Milnes.

The event will have some fun twists along the way!

“I am keeping the location a secret,” says Milnes.

Though she was hesitant to reveal too much detail, she has released that it will be an intimate outside setting with a view of the valley and local vineyards.

The location will be released one day before the event to all ticket holders.

Guests will also be treated to local entertainment, although, that too remains a secret.

If you can’t make it to this event, don’t worry! Milnes plans on holding The Ultimate Outdoor Fete once a month with donations going to a different charity of choice each time.

Tickets are $80 a person and can be purchased online.
