A new initiative aimed at supporting the Okanagan’s service industry has launched a charitable t-shirt.
Dubbed “In This Together” Okanagan, the project involves over 20 local businesses such as Vice & Virtue brewing, Curious Cafe, Crasian Food Truck and many others.
Daniel Connolly, the creator of Kelowna’s Home Grown Market, is behind the project that will see 50% of proceeds from the shirt donated to local hospitality businesses with the other half going towards producing the product locally.
“Being involved in the service industry for 15 years, my heartbeat is behind our local cafes, breweries and restaurants,” said Connolly.
“Once COVID-19 bans are lifted, the initiative will include a three-day industry crawl where anyone who purchased a shirt will receive 10% off their bill at all participating businesses.”
Local designer Ashleigh Green created the logo and Cool Hand Print Co. has signed up to make the shirts, which can be picked up locally for $40 or delivered with shipping costs via Canada Post.
“All local service establishments are encouraged to sign up and be a part of the project at no cost,” explained Connolly.
“And it’s an opportunity for the community to support these local businesses that have done their best to take out and delivery service during hard times.”
