  • Music in the Park kicks off Friday in West Kelowna

    The City of West Kelowna has unveiled the list of Music in the Park performers for summer 2016.

    Everyone is invited to take in the free concerts at Memorial Park every Friday night until Aug. 19.

    The 2016 lineup is:

    July 8 – Country singer Ben Klick

    The West Kelowna-based country artist recorded his lasted EP, Today, in Nashville. Klick will also be performing in Kamloops on July 9 and at the Calgary Stampede on July 15 and 16.

    July 15 – Elvis tribute artist Adam Fitzpatrick

    Fitzpatrick has been performing as Elvis since 2008. In 2014, he took home two Grand Championships in Europe and in Las Vegas for his tribute to the King.

    July 22 – Roots, rock and blues fusion band Devon Coyote

    The trio that makes up Devon Coyote has performed alongside George Thorogood and The Destroyers, Blue Rodeo and 54-40 on multiple dates in Western Canada. They have plenty of event appearances set for the summer around the Okanagan.

    July 29 – Folk duo Prairie Blue

    Aug. 5 – Local country band Westbank Opry (with Beamer Wiggly and Gracelynn Sali)

    The Westbank Opry brings plenty of Okanagan talent to perform classic country hits. The Westbank Country Opry also plays monthly shows from September to May at the Emmanuel Church auditorium in West Kelowna.

    Aug. 12 – Rock act Andrew Judah

    The Kelowna artist composes creative pieces which have been featured on the likes of Disney, Google and Netflix. According to his website, he is currently working on a project called Metanoia, which includes seven separate three-track EPs released once a month from June until December.

    Aug. 19 – Bluesy pop band Sister Speak

    Led by Canadian singer-songwriter Sherri Anne, Sister Speak is based in San Diego and performs over 150 concerts a year in North America. They have played many notable venues including the Rock Cafe Chicago, Railway Club Vancouver, Juno-Fest and CMW showcases in Toronto.

    Each evening's line-up includes an emerging artist at 6:45 p.m., and opening act at 7 p.m. and a headline act at 8 p.m.

    Memorial Park is located behind Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre at 3737 Old Okanagan Hwy.

    The venue has tiered seating that overlooks Okanagan Lake. Vendors are set up on site and attendees are welcome to bring blankets and umbrellas.
