    Multiple people hospitalized with serious injuries after Kootenays highway crash

    Mounties in Cranbrook continue to investigate a serious weekend crash.

    First responders were called to the scene on Hwy 3/95 near Moyie, between southwest of Cranbrook, around 5:35 pm Saturday.

    An investigation determined that an eastbound GMC Sierra lost control on a corner and collided with a westbound Jeep Cherokee.

    Icy road conditions were a “significant factor” in the crash, police noted.

    The occupants of both vehicles were seriously injured in the crash and transported to East Kootenay Regional Hospital for treatment.

    The RCMP shut down the highway for several hours to accommodate the initial medical response and follow-up investigation, which included an RCMP collision analyst.

    Anyone with information or dash cam footage that could assist investigators with this matter is urged to contact the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471.
