A KelownaNow reader is reporting that a multi-vehicle accident has snarled traffic along Glenmore Road.

The accident occurred in North Glenmore near Lake Country, where road crews are working to widen the two traffic lanes.

According to the witness, crews were letting northbound traffic through the construction zone when a car driven by an elderly woman veered into the southbound lane hitting about six waiting vehicles.

RCMP has now confirmed that Glenmore Road is closed, with no estimated opening time.

Motorists are asked to use John Hindle Drive or Highway 97 North.

Several ambulances, fire engines and police cruisers are now at the scene, the witness at the scene is reporting that the elderly woman may have had a heart attack.
