More winter weather expected early this week in Victoria

Winter is sticking around, and will bring more snow to the region this week.

Environment Canada is forecasting more winter weather Tuesday night through Wednesday.

“On Tuesday, a Pacific low pressure system will approach the coast from the west,” the forecaster says. “The moisture from this system will interact with arctic air already in place over the south coast to bring snow to most areas.”

Snow is expected to begin Tuesday evening and continue into Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will hover near zero, making the type of precipitation uncertain at this time.

Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Greater Victoria, and the Malahat Highway could experience freezing rain mixed with the snow overnight Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Greater Victoria will likely see a transition to rain or showers on Wednesday.

The potential for heavy snow and freezing rain during this time could pose a hazard to travel and outdoor activities.
