“The suspect fled the residence prior to police arrival but was subsequently located and arrested and he remains in custody,” police said in a news release.

The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) was engaged and assumed conduct of the investigation into Pamela’s death.

On Wednesday, 49-year-old Christopher Bernard Jarvis was charged with his wife’s murder.

He has appeared before a judge and will be held in custody for a court appearance on Jan. 6.

“The securing of charge approval was the result of a quick response from Merritt RCMP Front Line Officers and the ongoing investigation involving investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, BC RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Police Dog Services and the Merritt RCMP” said SED MCU Unit Commander, Staff Sergeant Jason Smart.
