A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on Hwy 3 over the weekend.

The driver, who is 63 and from North Vancouver, crashed near Holmes Drive in Hedley on Saturday evening. 

Emergency teams extracted him through the sunroof of his car. 

Nobody else was hurt. 

It happened just before 6 pm. 

The man was taken to hospital with critical injuries. There has not yet been an update on his condition. 

Police said it appears the man had been travelling west when he drifted off the road and hit a power pole. 

His car then bounced back into the road and blocked both lanes. 

The cause of the crash, however, is still being investigated.
