Work-life balance is definitely a topic of interest these days. More and more people are realizing the importance of being able to take a step away from work to enjoy other interests, such as spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, staying active and even just relaxing.
Not only does work-life balance improve our health and quality of life, but it can help to increase productivity and engagement on the job, while decreasing absenteeism and the dreaded ‘burnout’.
One way to achieve work-life balance while still making a decent living is flexibility on the job, and that’s exactly what 925 Freelancing offers.
How does the 925 Freelancing app work?
The 925 Freelancing app connects local freelancers and employers with the touch of a button, making it easy for both workers and companies to find non-permanent employment solutions.
The creators of 925 Freelancing wanted to offer Kelowna residents an alternative to the typical nine to five job, with the freedom to make their own schedule and spend more time enjoying life.
"We decided to start this company because we want to help people in a real impactful way," said Daniel Rondeau, 925 Freelancing's CEO. "Our goal is to ensure that making extra money is as easy as touching a button and to provide people with the opportunity to choose how they spend their time."
The app is locally-focused and will mainly be used for in-person jobs, such as trades, labour, hospitality and administrative work. While most freelancing apps and websites are geared towards online and remote work, 925 Freelancing helps connect people face-to-face.
The app is free for freelancers, who are screened by a team of HR professionals upon signing up. The app offers freelancers the ability to search for work when they want to, set their own price and choose jobs that appeal to them. They are paid through the app for their work with a weekly direct deposit.
Employers can also join for free, and only pay a small fee per transaction once the job is complete. Finding a freelancer is as simple as logging on and clicking the profile of someone who suits your needs. Thanks to the app, businesses have the opportunity to find qualified workers for short-term jobs or for additional coverage when short-staffed. Employers are also able to hire freelancers full-time for no additional charge if they happen to find someone who is the perfect fit for their company.
The app is launching with a focus on general labour jobs in the Okanagan, but will continue to expand into different industries as the database grows.
"Upon launch we will be starting with a small group of companies that have partnered with us, offering positions in general labour across several industries such as wineries, manufacturing, construction, warehousing and restoration," said Rondeau.
There will also be a contest for freelancers using the app to kick things off, with prizes including $1,000 cash, a Mavic Pro Drone and an iPad Mini. More details about the contest will be coming soon, so make sure you follow 925 Freelancing on Instagram and Facebook to stay up-to-date!
