Wildfire season has begun, and the fire crews are responding to a number of noteworthy fires in the Okanagan. 

With the many wildfires burning in the region right now, a Kelowna animal hospital is offering free emergency boarding for cats and dogs in the Okanagan if needed.

Fairfield Animal Hospital is offering pet owners emergency boarding services if they are evacuated from their homes due to wildfire threat.

"Being evacuated is already stressful enough for families, this is one less thing for pet owners to worry about," says Fairfield owner Dr. Stephen Ganton.

The emergency boarding facilities are available to evacuated pet owners until alternate arrangements can be made.

During forest fire season, it is recommended that owners reach out to friends and family who may be able to care for their pets in a crisis, or research local pet-friendly hotels and boarding facilities. 

Fairfield Animal Hospital is fully staffed 24 hours a day for emergencies. If you have been evacuated with your pets, you can contact Fairfield at 250-860-6550 at any time for assistance.

These emergency boarding services are only free for those affected by wildfires, and are a temporary arrangement for evacuated pet owners.
