There are plenty of choices for registered voters to make when it comes to choosing six councillors on Penticton Council heading into Saturday’s municipal election.

NowMedia reached out to all 24 candidates running to claim one of the six spots on Penticton Council. Many of the candidates did not respond, but the majority did.

We asked all candidates the same questions.

These are the responses from Lynn Kelsey.

What do you feel is the most pressing issue facing the City of Penticton should you be elected to Council after the Oct. 20 general election?

“Fiscal responsibility. Transparent reporting of the allocation of funds. This also includes listening to Pentictonites as to their spending priorities.”

What do you feel are your greatest assets as someone running for elected office?

“My greatest asset is my commitment to the citizens of Penticton as I have demonstrated by my attendance at city council meetings. I am a willing listener and a strong advocate. Integrity is my cornerstone.”

Can you please list some of the priorities you believe the new Council should make a priority in the first six months following the election?

“Priorities for the first six months would include taking a close look at where money has been spent and correcting any expenditures according to Penticton priorities. I would also support reviewing the budget and making sure our essential services are supported to do the work that the citizens expect.”

What is, in your opinion, the best thing about calling Penticton home?

“The best thing about calling Penticton home is the people. When people tell my son that we live in God's country, he tells them that Penticton is so beautiful that this is where God vacations.”

What are some of the reasons Penticton will be a better City to live in over the next four years?

“Penticton will be better place over the next four years if they vote in a mayor and council that listen to the people and prioritizes what all the citizens need and not just cater to the wants of a few.”
